Introducing the SEAFLEX Titanium Hybrid Model

We are proud to unveil the next major revision of SEAFLEX – the Titanium Hybrid Model

In our effort to keep improving our products, we continuously make changes to adapt them to the different needs of our customers. The traditional SEAFLEX unit is made out of high quality stainless steel (316L), often referred to as “marine-grade” steel. Over the years, SEAFLEX has been installed all over the world, in all different types of marine environments. During project follow-ups and specific quality testing, we found that in some rare instances and specific areas, the stainless steel SEAFLEX units experienced corrosion-related issues faster than what either we or our customers considered acceptable.

During the past 10 years, we have been working to find a good solution for this issue. During this time, we have tested many different possible materials, and deployed several testing strips in different types of waters to analyze the effect on these materials over a long period of time, as well as how well they functioned together with other materials used for the SEAFLEX units. After rigorous in situ testing to verify the quality, we have developed an improved SEAFLEX model specifically for these areas where traditional SEAFLEX units experienced unexpected corrosion issues. We call this model the SEAFLEX Titanium Hybrid Model. It is a titanium/316L stainless steel hybrid, where the most sensitive components of the units are made out of titanium.

This model is the result of several years of hard work, and we are very happy to be unveiling it today. By using the new SEAFLEX Titanium Hybrid Model, sea water installations in highly corrosive areas will have an increase in longevity. Please note that the traditional 316L stainless steel SEAFLEX units are normally still fully functional after several years in most sea water locations, there is no need to replace existing SEAFLEX units that are not Titanium Hybrid Models even if the installation is in sea water. The issues described here have been defined as an anomaly and very rare, and this upgrade was done to ensure that the SEAFLEX units keep fully functional in all locations. From now on, we officially recommend using SEAFLEX Titanium Hybrid Model for all sea water installations to maximize longevity.
